This week in Innovation Excellence there is a article that is sort of looking at what a genius looks like, or getting over notion that we know what the smartest people look like. This is a story of a 4 year old girl who is in the highest level of Mensa and has a high IQ while also a quick learner, high achiever and future nurse, while considered a genius(personally I who push her to me a neural-surgeon but nurse okay). While the article states that we often look to men in lab coats to be the geniuses the truly good ideas and brains could be anywhere in the organization, and come in any shape and size. While I was not aware of the HIPPO acronym and sort of steer away from corporate structure at all costs personally I can see how the power structures  and organizational charts often favor the older "lab" coat wearing men as they often prop themselves up as the keeper of knowledge, but who is to say with the rapid dissemination of information on the internet and things like Khan University that the future genius will not be of all shapes and sizes.
The most minimal travel trip set-up yet. While this is purely a article this week about about traveling lightly bringing this over to tribal leadership, could infer that leaders and the people of the tribe do not bring their baggage or leave it at the door/at home. While I generally read the first blog that populates this one is at the core of the younger me, and this is exactly how I travel. Growing up the son of a flight attendant I traveled constantly and generally only with a ski racer backpack. While this is exactly how I travel it amazes me that I see even seasoned travelers bringing bags with wheels (makes jumping on and off a bus or metro hard). I was recently dating a girl who went to teach in Bordeaux for a semester and when I dropped her at the airport it was as if she was bringing her house. Not only are the points mentioned important and travelling light is the only way I travel but it also alienates you less as backpacks are normal luggage is for tourists (harder to connect with people and move through cities with baggage, real and imagined).
Entrepreneurship = impact, While I found myself reading a few more posts as they are short and short of not super dense on materials to discuss in relations to Tribal Leadership. What this short and sweet little tidbit focused on was that what is importance of entrepreneurship is not what was invented or the new product brought to market. Rather who it changed or effected, how did it positively impact people and how do you care enough or get people excited enough to make a change or cause change. While I think this post was as long as the said blog I feel like the next about Patrons and Assistants maybe should be discussed but then what will I do next week.
